Delta Sky Club vs. United Club: Network Comparison

Network breadth, food quality, and visit policies for the two largest U.S. airline lounge brands.

Delta Sky Club and United Club are the two largest U.S. airline-operated lounge networks. Here's how they compare in 2026.

Network breadth. Delta Sky Club: 50+ U.S. locations including multiple at every major Delta hub (ATL alone has at least seven). United Club: 45+ U.S. locations across United hubs and major spoke airports. Delta wins on pure location count, particularly at smaller cities.

Annual membership cost. Delta Sky Club Individual: $695/yr. United Club: $650/yr. Roughly even.

Card-based access. Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express ($650 annual fee): now capped at 15 visits per year unless the cardholder spends $75K+ on the card. United Club Infinite Card (Chase, $525 annual fee): unlimited visits, includes full membership. United Club Infinite is dramatically better value per dollar than Delta Reserve in 2026.

Same-day flight requirement. Both require a same-day flight on the operating airline. Delta is stricter on partner-airline tickets; United accepts most Star Alliance partner same-day tickets without issue.

Food quality. Delta Sky Club: improved meaningfully under the recent network refresh, with hot food, premium coffee, and (at flagship locations) signature menu items. United Club: more inconsistent across the network. Newer locations (SFO, LAX T2, EWR) match Delta quality; older locations lag.

Crowding. Delta Sky Club: regularly capacity-restricted at ATL, JFK, LAX, MSP. United Club: capacity-restricted at SFO, EWR, ORD during peak banks.

Premium-cabin alternatives. Delta One Lounge: new premium-cabin product at JFK and LAX for international Delta One business-class passengers; not part of Sky Club access. United Polaris Lounge: international business-class lounge at six U.S. hubs; not part of United Club access.

Verdict: United Club wins decisively on credit-card value for frequent flyers via the United Club Infinite Card. Delta Sky Club wins on network breadth at smaller domestic cities. For travelers who fly both airlines, the choice often comes down to which carrier they fly more frequently — but United Club Infinite is the more cost-effective annual membership.
